Unlike a desert safari where dune bashing is performed by a professional driver, Dune Buggy Dubai puts you in the driver’s seat. Choose a 1-seater, 2-seater or 4-seater buggy and enjoy an off-road ride across the Lahbab red desert with a professional guide leading the activity.

Choose from 30-minute, 60-minute, 90-minute or 120-minute driving options. Whether you are looking for a short introduction to desert driving or want more time behind the wheel, you can select the duration that suits your plans.

Dune Buggy Dubai is an activity in the desert for those who want to drive an off-road buggy by themselves.

The experience takes place in the Lahbab red desert, where you can drive through open desert terrain under the guidance of a professional leader.

The buggies are purpose-built off-road vehicles with a roll cage and passenger seating. Depending on your selected buggy, you can drive alone or share the vehicle with members of your own family or group.

There are no strangers placed in your buggy.

Before the activity begins, your guide explains the vehicle and the essential safety procedures. If needed, we can provide an orientation or practice session to confidant beginners.

Once everyone is ready, then our guide leads the group into the desert.

Our fleet includes purpose-built off-road buggies from Can-Am and Polaris, with different configurations available depending on the selected vehicle and availability.

All buggies are automatic and designed for off-road desert driving.

Yes, but there is an important thing to note.

You do not need to be an experienced off-road driver. You should be confident in operating a vehicle in the desert and be able to follow our guide’s instructions.

First-time buggy drivers can receive an orientation before the ride.

The guide will determine whether a participant is ready to drive independently and may require less experienced drivers to remain behind the guide.

Your safety and the safety of the group take priority over speed or aggressive driving.

Experienced drivers can enjoy the capability of the buggies and the open desert environment, but all driving remains subject to the guide’s safety instructions and the conditions of the riding area.

Speed, route and riding behaviour may be controlled when necessary.

The objective is not simply to drive as fast as possible. It is to enjoy the vehicle and desert terrain while maintaining safe control.

• The standard minimum driving age is 16 years.
• Teenagers may be able to participate under strict supervision and subject to guide approval.
• Passengers can ride in suitable 2-seater and 4-seater buggies, including children where the vehicle arrangement and safety requirements permit.
• For younger participants, please provide their ages when booking so we can advise on the appropriate arrangement.
• There is no fixed maximum age, but participants must be physically capable of safely riding in or operating the buggy.
• There are currently no standard height or weight restrictions.
• A driving license or international driving permit is not required for this desert activity.

Safety equipment is provided for the activity, including:

• Safety harness/seat belt
• Helmet
• Goggles
• Gloves
• Other appropriate safety equipment where required

The seat belt or safety harness must be worn.

Helmets are available for participants and can be worn according to the applicable riding arrangement and safety guidance.

All buggies are checked daily before operation.

A professional guide remains involved throughout the activity, and a support/recovery vehicle is available.

Important Safety Information

Dune buggy driving is an active off-road activity involving uneven terrain, vehicle movement and desert conditions.

Guests must follow the instructions of the guide throughout the activity.

Do not attempt maneuvers or speeds beyond your ability.

Guests with medical conditions that could be aggravated by off-road driving should inform The Desert Rangers before booking.

We particularly advise against participation for guests with significant:

• Back problems
• Neck problems
• Heart conditions
• Pregnancy
• Other medical conditions affected by vibration, movement or rough terrain

Private pickup and drop-off are included from locations across Dubai.

Depending on your group and vehicle requirements, suitable transportation is arranged for your booking.

Pickup from Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and other locations outside Dubai can also be arranged for an additional charge.

The average journey from Dubai to the Lahbab riding area is approximately 40–60 minutes, depending on the pickup location and traffic.

Both activities offer self-driving in the Lahbab desert, but the driving experience is different.

Quad biking gives you a more open riding experience on an individual quad bike.

Dune buggy driving puts you inside a purpose-built off-road vehicle with a roll cage and passenger seating, offering a different type of desert driving experience.

Choose a quad bike if you want the simplicity and openness of riding a quad.

Choose a dune buggy if you want the feel of driving a larger off-road vehicle and want the option to share the vehicle with members of your own family or group.

Both activities are available as standalone experiences from The Desert Rangers.

Dune Buggy Dubai should not be confused with a traditional desert safari.

A desert safari normally combines several activities such as professional dune bashing, a desert camp, camel riding, sandboarding, dinner and entertainment.

Dune Buggy Dubai is focused on self-driving.

If your main reason for visiting the desert is to drive your own off-road vehicle, the dune buggy activity is the more direct choice.

If you want a broader evening desert program with dinner and entertainment, choose one of our desert safari options.

Dune buggy driving is dependent on safe desert conditions. If weather or desert conditions make the activity unsafe, we do not operate.
