What to Expect

Dubai Overnight Desert Safari

Your Overnight Desert Safari begins with a journey into the Lahbab desert, where you’ll experience the dunes before sunset.

After dune bashing and a sunset stop, continue to the desert camp for dinner and the evening entertainment program. Enjoy the same BBQ dinner and buffet selection offered with the classic Evening Desert Safari, followed by the camp performances.

Once the evening program winds down, the atmosphere changes completely. Rather than returning to Dubai, you’ll stay in the desert for the night.

Your sleeping arrangement is provided in a private camping tent on the sand, with sleeping bags or mattresses. If you prefer a more traditional setting, a Bedouin-style tent with oriental carpets can be arranged for your sleeping area.

With no city lights around you, the open desert sky provides a clear view of the stars. There is no telescope provided, but the natural night sky is the attraction.

A bonfire can be arranged upon request, subject to conditions and availability.

The next morning, wake up for a dedicated sunrise experience, followed by breakfast before departing the desert at approximately 7:00 AM. The actual departure time varies during the year according to the changing sunrise time.

Why Choose an Overnight Desert Safari?

  • Stay After Everyone Else Leaves: Most desert safari guests return to Dubai after dinner and entertainment. With an overnight safari, you stay behind and experience the desert after dark.
  • Sleep in the Desert: Spend the night in a private camping tent on the sand with sleeping bags or mattresses.
  • Choose Your Sleeping Style: Prefer a more traditional environment? Ask for your sleeping arrangement inside a Bedouin-style tent with oriental carpets.
  • Experience the Desert at Night: The desert becomes quiet after the evening camp program, with an unobstructed view of the night sky.
  • Watch the Sunrise: Instead of leaving after dinner, wake up in the desert and experience sunrise over the dunes.
  • Breakfast in the Desert: Start the morning with eggs, bread or toast, fruit and hot drinks before returning to Dubai.

Who Is This Overnight Safari Best For?

  • This experience is particularly suited to:
  • Couples
  • Families
  • Friends and small groups
  • Travelers looking for something different from the standard evening safari
  • Visitors who want to experience the desert after dark
  • Photography enthusiasts
  • People interested in sunrise and desert landscapes
  • Travelers who want an authentic camping experience

Helpful Tips To Book Your Desert Safari Overnight Camping

  • Bring a light jacket: Desert temperatures can become noticeably cooler at night, especially during the winter months.
  • Wear comfortable clothes and shoes: You'll be spending time outdoors and sleeping in a desert environment.
  • Bring personal essentials: Because you're staying overnight, remember anything you normally need for an overnight stay.
  • Don't expect a hotel room: This is desert camping. The appeal is the open environment and the experience of spending the night in the desert.
  • Keep your phone charged: Sunset, stars and sunrise provide excellent photography opportunities.
  • Don't expect telescope-based stargazing: There is no telescope. The attraction is the clear open sky and natural view of the stars.
  • Bonfire requests should be made in advance: A bonfire is possible upon request and remains subject to conditions and operational requirements.
  • Sunrise time changes throughout the year: Your exact morning schedule will therefore vary depending on the season.
  • Eat lightly before dune bashing: Even though you'll enjoy BBQ dinner later, it's better not to have a heavy meal immediately before a dune drive.
  • Bring sunglasses and sunscreen: The desert sun can be strong even before sunset.
  • Pickup Time: It varies by your pickup location, the season, the sunset time and is confirmed after booking.
  • Duration: Allow approximately 16–17 hours from pickup to drop-off.
  • Children: Children can generally participate in the safari, but dune bashing may not be suitable for very young children. Confirm the applicable age requirements before booking.
  • Expect Sand: Your clothes, shoes and phone may get sandy. That's part of the fun.
  • Tell us about any relevant medical or physical condition before the safari: This is particularly important because dune bashing involves significant vehicle movement.

Important: Dune Bashing

Our 4×4 desert drive with dune bashing involves sudden turns, inclines and descents. The vehicle moves across uneven desert terrain. Pregnant women and guests with back or neck problems, heart conditions, or other medical conditions are strongly advised to skip dune bashing activity.

Please inform us in advance about pregnancy, relevant medical conditions, injuries or physical limitations so we can advise you appropriately and make the necessary arrangements for your safari.
